After ICML and ACL: Notes to Myself

最近 ACL 和 ICML 的放榜，让我对这个时代如何定义好的 research 和优秀的 researcher 产生了很大的冲击。 如果每个人都有 5 篇以上 AI top conference papers，甚至很多大二大三的本科生都有了自己的顶会一作，那么 quantity 似乎已经逐渐失去了它原本的意义。

Juncheng 一直跟我强调，quality is much more important than quantity. 世人记住我，只会因为我的一篇代表作，而不是因为“他是那个一年发了 10 篇 AI top conference papers 的人”。

前阵子听谢赛宁的 talk，也有类似的感受。他多次强调 Kaiming 的 taste 以及论文真正的意义。我很认同：paper 只是帮助其他人产生 insight 的媒介。我希望我的 research 也能这样，可以 help someone, change something in this world.

只是一些还没有整理好的哲思。
